  Raha Town is situated at the south side of Nagaon, the district head quarter of Nagaon district. It is the most backward town comparative to other towns in Nagaon district. Raha town is encircled by kampur town on the east, boundary of Morigaon district on the west, Nagaon town on the North and boundary of Morigaon district on the south.

Raha Town was declared as a town in 2005, vide Govt. notification no.UDD(M) 185/2000/244 dated 9th August 2005 and constituted in 2007 and the elected Town Committee has constituted on 15/9/2009, till the creation of town, it conducted by the Raha gaon Panchayat under Raha Dev. Block. A part from administrative activities, the town is a center of education, trade and commerce of the entire Raha assembly constituency.

The soil condition of Raha Town is alluvial and consists of clay and sand. The cultivable land is scattered of the surrounding villages nearest to the centre of the town. The NH-37 passed through the centre of the town for which it is well communicated with the other district head quarters of the state. There is a railway station at ward no-7 of Raha Town which is linked with Chaparmukh junction. The main Railway Junction of Nagaon district, namely Chaparmukh situated about 5.00 KMs away from Raha Town. The Town is well connected with state capital Dispur(Guwahati) via Jagiroad by the all wheather surface road, which is about 100.00 Kms away from the town. The district head quarter town Nagaon is situated at a district of 22 KMs away from Raha Town which is well connected by NH-37.
